Adiscrepancybetweenacceptedcapitalizationandcurrentearning-capacity,similartothediscrepancydiscussedabovebutofaprogressivecharacter,arisesundermodernconditionsapartfromafallintherateofinterest。Thediscrepancypointedoutandprovisionallydisposedofabove,duetoafallininterestrates,isadiscrepancybetweenthenominalvalue(acceptedcapitalization)oftheolderestablishments,computedontheirearlierearning-capacityorontheoriginalcostoftheirequipment,ontheonehand,andtheirpresentactualvalueontheotherhand,computedontheircurrentearning-capacityincompetitionwithrivalsthathavetheadvantageofalowercostofequipment,or,inotherwords,alowerinterestchargeperunitofearning-capacity。Undertheregimeofthelater,morefullydevelopedmachineproduction,adiscrepancyhavingasimilareffectarisesoutofapersistentdivergencebetweenthepastcostofproductionofagivenequipmentandthecurrentcostofalikeorequivalentequipmentatanysubsequentdate,-
